A Wide Brown Fluted Drum Under a Rippled Disc

The flutes are formed into the drum at a constant pitch all the way round, and the drum is finished a deep, even brown, so the flutes read as a close run of shadowed lines rather than as bright metal. The disc is cast thin for its diameter and the ripple is modelled into its upper mould face only, which leaves the underside flat and lets it bed across the full rim of the drum. The torn edge is left as the material finished. The schedule is set by the flattening: a resin disc this wide has to come true across its whole face, and a straight edge is laid on both diagonals before the drum is fitted under it.

It stands low enough to be looked over from a chair, and with no corners it shows the same face from every direction. The brown drum sits quietly on timber boards and warm rugs, which leaves the rippled disc above it to catch the eye. It is wide for its height, so the run of floor around it matters more than the wall behind it.

The Brown Drum, the Disc, and Moving It

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. Most of it is the wide fluted drum. You settle three things. The disc thickness is open, the drum is offered in a blackened steel, and the ripple is run finer across the top. Top diameter and drum height are settled at order. Nothing holds the flute count round the drum between separate orders. The crate is packed so that nothing rests on the disc edge or the fluted face of the drum, and four people set it down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
