Clear Ribbed Twin Dome Acrylic Stool (45cm) by Giant Sculptures, hourglass-shaped with ribbed horizontal texture, photographed against a plain white background.
Clear Ribbed Twin Dome Acrylic Stool - 45cm $5,13000
Description

This cast acrylic stool is two opposed domes in clear acrylic meeting at a narrow waist: the upper one is dished into a shallow bowl and the one beneath it is closed, and both are worked in fine horizontal ripple lines the whole way round. The waist is the narrowest part of the piece and the two domes are the same diameter, so the outline reads as one form pinched in the middle rather than as two parts joined.

Two Domes Meeting at a Narrow Waist

The ribbing is turned into the mould face, so it runs true round the whole circumference of both domes and the pitch does not wander where the form turns. Acrylic is used here rather than resin for its clarity at this section, and the waist is the thinnest part of the piece, so it is the part that decides whether the casting is sound. Both domes are polished to the same standard, and the one beneath it is finished right under the foot because the piece is often seen on a pale floor.

At 45cm this is a stool at seat height and it will take an adult, and the dished top means a tray or a bowl sits in it without sliding. The ribbing catches raking light, so a position lit from one side gives it more than one lit from directly above. One person can shift it without help, which means it can follow the seating round a room rather than hold one place.

The Ribbing, the Waist, and Ordering a Pair

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The ribbed surface is what fills the time. Before it is made, three decisions sit with you. The ribbing can be turned at a coarser or a finer pitch, the acrylic is offered tinted, and the upper dome can be left closed instead of dished. Say what top diameter and overall height you want. Put the whole order in at once and the pitch of the ribbing round the domes carries across every piece. It travels with the rim of the upper dome packed clear, and one person can place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Two ribbed domes meeting at a waist sit with our acrylic sculptures; at seat height it serves among our art furniture, and the turned ribbing suits our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
