Clear Ribbed Shell Black Frame Resin Dining Chair - 84cm, with a fluted clear resin seat shell set in a black frame with squared legs, on a plain white background.
Clear Ribbed Shell Black Frame Resin Dining Chair - 84cm $3,64500
Description

This cast resin dining chair has a one-piece clear shell fluted from top to front edge, the fine ribs carried unbroken over the bend from back to seat. The shell is clear. Around it stands an opaque black frame that does everything structural, four legs squared in section rising into two arms that meet the shell at its outer edges. The two elements are separate objects and neither pretends to be the other.

A Ribbed Shell in a Black Frame

Two materials, two jobs, and no pretence between them. The shell is clear and finely ribbed, and the ribbing is the harder half of it: close vertical flutes run the full height of the back and then continue forward across the seat, crossing the fold between them without a break or a change of pitch. Because the shell is clear, that ribbing is what gives it any shape at all - light catches every crest and the piece reads as a corrugated sheet rather than a plane. The frame is the opposite: opaque black, squared in section, four legs rising into two arms, and it carries everything. The shell touches it only at its outer edges. Nothing about the frame tries to look like resin and nothing about the shell tries to look structural.

At 84cm high this is a compact dining chair and will run under a table without fuss. The black frame ties it to a dark floor or to painted furniture and reads hard against pale carpet. The clear ribbed shell needs light across it rather than straight down, so a window or a pendant to one side does more for it than a ceiling fitting overhead. Indoors.

The Shell, the Frame, and the Order

Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. Three of its features are open. The shell is offered tinted as well as clear, the rib pitch can be opened up or tightened, and the frame is available in other lacquer colours or in a natural timber. You give us the seat height. Seat height and overall width are both quoted on request. Order more than one together and the pitch of the ribs across the shell is matched across them. Crated with the thin ribbed shell edge protected, it is a two-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A ribbed clear shell held in a black frame makes a dining chair for our art furniture; the corrugated sheet suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a painted dining room among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.

Questions Before You Order?
