Description

Held in the middle of this clear resin cylinder is a striking insect in black and deep red. Its front legs curve up and forward into hooks, its smoky wings stand straight out to each side with a pale, glassy fringe along their trailing edge, and its rounded body is a glossy crimson tipped with black. Two fine amber threads trail from the tail, and four slender black legs splay beneath.

Crimson and Black Beneath a Clear Curve

The imported resin is water-clear and shaped into a smooth round column, level across its crown and its foot, so nothing on its surface competes with the colours within. Against that clear the crimson reads almost like enamel, and the black of the head, the hooks and the legs is deep enough to show each joint as a fine line of highlight. The wings are dark at the root and turn pale and glassy towards their edges, where the clear shows behind them. Because the specimen is an individual insect, its exact pose and the depth of its red vary slightly between cylinders.

Its strong colours give it presence on a study desk, a bookcase or the end of a console, where it reads clearly from across the room. At 37cm it suits a deep shelf or a side table beside a reading chair. A pale wall makes the red stand out sharply, while a dark wooden surface beneath picks up the black of the legs. Indoor use only.

From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. We make one cylinder for each order, starting once yours is confirmed. Should you want something bespoke, another specimen can be chosen, the piece can be made as a slimmer cylinder or a squared block, and the resin can carry a faint smoky tint for a moodier look. Packed upright in a padded carton, it arrives ready to stand on a level surface straight away. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
