Clear Pixel Cube Head Acrylic Sculpture - 162cm by Giant Sculptures, a human head formed from stacked clear acrylic cubes, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Pixel Cube Head Acrylic Sculpture - 162cm $28,81000
Description

A head built from many clear cubes stacked in a grid, like the pixels of a digital image rendered in three dimensions. Seen from a distance the cubes resolve into the outline of a human head and shoulders; close to, the image breaks up into separate blocks of acrylic and resin, a few of them carrying a pale speckled design inside.

A Head Made of Clear Pixels

The piece is about resolution: how few blocks it takes for the eye to see a face. The cubes are all one size and aligned to one grid, so the head is described only by which positions are filled and which are left empty, and the outline steps in and out as a screen image does. Leaving the cubes clear makes the head half there, a ghost of an image, and the speckled designs in some of them work like highlights in a picture. It changes completely as you move towards it.

It is a piece for a gallery, an office reception, a tech company's lobby or a contemporary home with a double-height wall, placed where people approach it from some distance, since the image forms as you step back. A dark background suits it best: against black or deep grey the clear cubes and the head stand out sharply, while a white wall leaves the outline soft. Light it from the side to make the cube edges shine.

Grid Size, Patterns and Delivery

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. The head can be built at another size, with a finer or coarser grid, and more or fewer of the cubes can carry the speckled design; a particular face can be made to a brief. A coarser grid makes the image more abstract and the cubes more of a feature. It travels upright in a crate built around its grid, and it is lifted from beneath, never by the cubes of the head. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A portrait made of pixels in clear cubes, it joins our acrylic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
