This side table is an upright tube of optically clear resin, closed at its foot by a thick clear base and open at the top, where a flat clear disc is laid across the rim as the working surface. The disc is wider than the tube and overhangs it all the way round. The wall is polished to a mirror inside and out, so the room and whatever stands beyond it are carried across the curve and the piece reads as a column of light rather than a solid mass. There is no banding on it and no separate foot.
The tube is the hard part of the build: its wall has to rise true and even all the way round, because on a clear cylinder any wander in the wall shows as a ripple in whatever is seen through it. The curve is then ground back through successive grades and polished until it holds a mirror. The disc on top is finished to the same standard so the two read as one material, and the surface is left with no tint at all, which is what lets the colour of the room stand in for the colour of the piece.
At 69cm this stands at chair-arm height and takes a lamp, a drink or a small stack of books beside a seat. It also works as a plinth in a hall or a gallery corner, and because the face is a mirror it is best where there is something worth reflecting: a window, a planted corner or a coloured wall rather than a plain white one.
Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. Truing and polishing the tube is the slow part. There are three decisions. The cylinder can be supplied tinted rather than colourless, the top disc can be made flush with the column or left proud of it as it is here, and the face can be finished satin instead of mirror where a room has too much to reflect. Top diameter and column height are each specified. Where two or more are wanted, how deep the mirror runs in the face is held the same across the group. In transit the top disc and the polished face must be boxed away from the sides; one person to set it down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A plain clear tube capped by a disc is pure geometry, so look for it in our geometric sculptures; set beside a chair it joins the working tables of our art furniture, and its plain restraint suits our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
