Clear Machined Prism Leg Resin Side Table, 45cm, with a solid square top and faceted, tapering prism legs, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Machined Prism Leg Resin Side Table - 45cm $4,25200
Description

The top of this side table is a solid block of high-clarity resin, machined to shape rather than cast, with square edges and a polished face. Under it hangs a fringe of legs, each tapering to a point and each cut as a prism with its own angles, so the fringe carries a different colour on almost every leg. Its plan is square, and the whole piece is one material throughout.

A Fringe of Prisms, No Two Cut to the Same Angles

Machining resin to an optical finish is a slower job than casting it, and it is the only way to get an angle that is exactly an angle: a cast prism has a radius at every arris however carefully the mould is made, and a radius is what stops a prism working. Each leg is cut on more than one axis, which means it is set up more than once, and the angles are varied deliberately from leg to leg so the fringe does not read as a machine part. The top is cut from a single billet so the block carries no join, and its underside is brought to the same polish as its face because the legs are seen through it. Everything is finished to one grade of clarity - a leg a shade duller than the top would read as another material rather than another cut.

A plan this small is a table for one thing at a time: a lamp, a glass, a book left face down. It suits a chair-side position where the fringe is at eye level once you are sitting, since that is where the prisms do their work. Put it on a plain pale floor or a light rug rather than a pattern, because what it throws lands there. At 45cm it meets most chair arms. It is not meant to take a heavy load and should not be asked to.

Leg Count, Block Depth and How It Travels

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. Leg count is set at order and changes the piece completely: a dozen reads as a fringe, four reads as a table. Block depth is open, and the top can be run out past the legs or brought in flush with them. The resin is offered colourless, in a smoke, or with a tint carried through the block while the legs stay clear. Height is cut to order. It travels as one piece in a fitted crate, since the legs cannot be packed loose, and it comes out of the crate as a one-person carry. The points are protected in transit and that protection comes off last, once the table is standing where it is going. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Prisms cut no two to the same angles belong with our geometric sculptures; a top machined from one block of clear resin leads to our resin sculptures, and a chair-side table for one thing at a time joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
