Clear Leaping Fish Group on a Marble Plinth - 117cm $18,96900
Description

This resin group is two fans of fish, one to each side, rising out of a flat panel whose surface is dimpled all over like disturbed water. There are about ten of them, each caught mid-leap with the body arched and the tail still down, and they climb in size and height from the outside of each fan to the middle. All of it is clear resin. The group stands on a hexagonal plinth of black marble that makes up a third of the height.

Ten Fish Out of One Panel

Ten fish out of one panel means ten joins that all have to disappear. Each fish leaves the panel at its own angle, and the material is continuous, so the work is in the transition rather than the fixing: the belly of each fish is carried into the dimpled surface over a couple of centimetres and the dimples are then re-cut across the join so the pattern reads as unbroken water. The fans are set out as a pair and cut to match each other, which is harder than it sounds - a fan of five is read as a rhythm, and one fish a few degrees out of sequence breaks the rhythm rather than adding to it.

The marble takes it to a hundred and seventeen, which is chest height on a standing adult, so it belongs on the floor of an entrance, a reception or a broad landing. It is a frontal piece and the fans close from the side, so set it square with clear wall behind. The marble is heavy and wants a solid floor. Light from the front or above fills every fish with its own highlight; a strong backlight turns the whole group into a grey silhouette and the dimpling disappears.

The Marble, the Group and Getting It Home

Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The number of fish is settled at order, from six up to a dozen, and the two fans can be made as one wider fan for a wall-side piece. The resin takes an amber, a smoke or a green, and a frost is offered where a full polish is too much against dark stone. The plinth is made in this black marble, in a white marble or in steel, and its depth can be cut back where the height matters more. It arrives in two crates, the plinth and the group cased separately and joined on site. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Fish leaping in two fanned arcs belong with our animal sculptures; a panel dimpled like disturbed water leads to our organic sculptures, and clear fish over black marble join our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
