This acrylic screen is a thick square panel cut with a lattice pattern. The field is divided into nine squares by plain bars, and within and between them sit scrolled quatrefoil motifs of the kind found in a Chinese window screen - four lobes drawn to points, repeated at the crossings and halved along the border. A plain margin runs round the whole outside.
Cutting this pattern in a section this deep is a different job from cutting it in a thin sheet. Every lobe has an inside curve, and an inside curve in thick acrylic wants to chip at the exit of the cut rather than the entry, so each one is taken in two passes from opposite faces and met in the middle of the section. That leaves a line down the inside of every curve which is then worked out, and there are several hundred such curves in one panel. The lattice bars are cut last, once the motifs are in, because the panel is at its weakest with the field already open. Every cut face is brought up bright, which is what makes the pattern read as drawn lines when the panel is lit from behind.
At 39cm this is a panel for a shelf, a sill or a plinth rather than a wall, and it stands on its own bottom edge without a fitting. It is at its best where light comes through it from behind: against a window the pattern reads as a silhouette and the cut faces light up along every curve. Set on a solid surface with light from the front, the pattern goes quiet and the panel reads almost as a plain square. Two of them at either end of a run of shelving works better than one on its own.
Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. The motif can be cut to another pattern from the same tradition, and the field can be run as four squares or sixteen rather than nine. The panel is available in a tinted acrylic, which strengthens the silhouette at the cost of the lit edges. It arrives as one piece with both faces filmed and the film left on until it is standing, because a large clear face collects marks in handling and every one of them shows against a window. One person can carry it easily. It is not drilled for fixing, so if you want it wall-mounted that is specified with the order. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A nine-square lattice in the window tradition belongs with our indoor sculptures; quatrefoils cut through thick clear sheet lead to our acrylic sculptures, and a panel to stand against a window joins our geometric sculptures.

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
