Description

A hollow sphere of clear acrylic with an iridescent sheen on its surface, so that bands of rainbow colour drift across it as the light and your viewpoint change, like the skin of a soap bubble. At its foot the sphere opens into a short, clear collar with a lip, and that open neck is what it stands on. It reflects the room around it in a curve. It is made in ten sizes and each is sold singly, so a cluster is ordered piece by piece.

A Soap-Bubble Sheen on Clear Acrylic

The sphere is the simplest form there is, and the finish is what gives it life. The iridescent sheen is faint enough to leave the acrylic clear and strong enough to break into colour wherever light strikes it at an angle, so each sphere carries shifting bands of violet, yellow and green that move as you do. Because it is hollow, the far side of the sphere is seen through the near one, and the reflections double. A group, at different distances, reads as a drift of bubbles.

Stand them on the floor in a group, in a hall, a lobby, a shop window or a party space, or put a single sphere in a living room as a point of colour. Changing light and reflections make them come alive, so place them where there is movement and colour around them. At night, with lamps nearby, the sheen is at its strongest. Across its ten sizes a sphere can sit on a shelf or a desk as readily as on a floor.

Size, Sheen and Ordering a Group

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. The sphere is made in ten diameters, each sold singly, and the sheen can be made stronger, fainter or left off for a plain clear sphere; a group can be ordered in mixed diameters. Mixed diameters make a cluster read as a natural drift. Each sphere is lifted with both hands spread round its middle and set down on its collar, never carried by the lip. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
