Clear Horseshoe Crest Acrylic Armchair with Black Rail, 85cm, front view on a plain white background, showing tapered legs and curved black crest rail.
Clear Horseshoe Crest Acrylic Armchair with Black Rail - 85cm $1,68700
Description

An armchair in clear acrylic that takes the horseshoe-back form and strips it: one crest rail curves down from the centre of the back and continues into both arms without a break, the back below it is kept so slight that the crest seems to float, and four legs taper away below. The crest rail is the one coloured element, a solid black that runs the length of the curve.

A Horseshoe Stripped to Its Essential Members

The crest is the piece that decides the chair. It has to hold a continuous curve through more than half a circle while changing shape as it goes - deeper in the face where it crosses the back, rounder where it becomes an arm - and it is formed over a jig so the sweep reads as one line from shoulder to shoulder. The black is as strong on the cut ends of the rail as along its length, so a knock on an edge shows black rather than clear. Everything else is kept deliberately thin: the back below the crest, the seat a shallow dish, the legs turned as fine as the form allows. Where the arms land on the seat frame the joint is solvent-welded and polished until it disappears.

Because so little of it is solid, this chair will go into a room that is already full without making it fuller - at a writing desk, in the corner of a bedroom, or as the odd chair at a dining table of a different style. Its compact plan suits a landing. The coloured crest is what you will see from across a room, so think about that line against the wall behind it rather than about the chair as a mass.

The Crest Colour, the Splat, and Buying in Pairs

Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The crest rail is finished in the colour you specify, and the back below it can be made as one clear panel or as slim uprights. The chair is priced as a single, and a facing pair is two on the order. It is dispatched assembled because the welded shoulder joints are structural, in a carton cut to the outline with the crest boxed inside its own sleeve, since a coloured edge shows a scuff far more readily than a clear one. One person can carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A horseshoe crest picked out in black stands with our acrylic sculptures; a back pared down below one sweep opens onto our indoor sculptures, and an odd chair for a writing corner joins our art furniture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
