Clear Horn-Blowing Winged Figure on Plinth, 160cm, by Giant Sculptures, striding figure with raised wings on a tall white plinth against a plain background.
Clear Horn-Blowing Winged Figure on Plinth - 160cm $3,10500
Description

The figure strides forward with one leg lifted clear of the ground, both wings swept up and back behind the shoulders, and a long slender horn held to the mouth with both hands. It is cast in clear resin throughout. Under it stands a plain square plinth, unmoulded and untextured, which carries most of the total height and leaves the figure at well above eye level.

Wings, a Horn, and Nothing Underneath Them

Three things on this piece reach out into air with nothing under them: the raised leg, the two wings and the horn. Each is a slender clear section and each is finished on both faces, since a wing seen from below is as visible as one seen from above. The horn is the finest of them and is made on its own and set into the hands, which is the only way it can be brought to a true taper along its whole length. The wings carry individual feathers cut in relief and their outer edges are dressed to a consistent thinness, so the sweep reads as one line rather than a row of separate points. The plinth is a separate element, dead square and dead flat, deliberately without ornament so that everything happening above it reads against nothing.

Because the plinth puts the figure above eye level, this is a piece for a room with height: a hall, a stair well, a landing, or the corner of a double-height space. It reads from directly in front, where the wings spread and the horn crosses the face, and it loses most of that from behind. Give it a plain wall and light from below or from one side, which fills the wings; light from straight above puts the face in shadow under the horn. Allow clearance for the wings on both sides.

Plinth, Finish and Bringing It Into the Room

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. The plinth is offered in this white, a black, a grey stone or a dark timber, and its height is set at order, so the figure can be brought down to table level or taken up further. The figure alone is sold without a plinth. The figure can be tinted, honey or blue-grey for instance, and its wings and horn can be gilded on their own. Scale is set at order, and a mirror-image figure can be cut so two flank an opening. Figure and plinth are crated separately. The figure seats onto the plinth by hand, the plinth takes two to lift, and one person can carry the figure at the hips. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A winged figure sounding a horn belongs with our angel statues; a stride lifted clear of the plinth leads to our classic sculptures, and a clear herald over a white plinth joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
