A ribbon of clear resin folded on itself, rising at one side into a tall, upright fold and curling over at the other, its whole surface worked rough. A mottled grey bar crosses it on the diagonal, from high in the middle down to one lower corner, and a broad, streaked grey band curls over the top of the folded side and runs down beside the bar. Bright gold-toned flakes fleck the clear body, thickest along the curl. Nothing comes under it; it rests on the folded lower edges of the ribbon.
Gold in a rough body behaves nothing like gold on a smooth one, because the surface catches it before the depth does. The two grey elements are the only opaque things on the object, and they cross it rather than follow it: the bar is a straight, mottled rod laid on the diagonal, and the band is a broad, streaked strip that curls over the top of the fold and drops beside it, so both read as something arriving from outside rather than as part of the clear body. The whole outside of the ribbon is left coarse, so the clear resin and the grey are told apart by touch as well as by eye.
A desk or a low shelf suits it, where the bar can be seen crossing the body. A dark wall makes the gold flash; a pale one makes it disappear into the body. With any moving source the flakes come on one at a time, which is the only animation in an otherwise still object. It carries no distance at all and is not meant to, so this is work for the desk's own range.
From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. The gold-toned flakes are left out, the bar and the band are finished in a darker grey, and the body is given a tint. Without the flakes the surface can be worked finer, since nothing then needs a coarse face to catch the light. Body, bar and band travel in one crate, with the bar packed hard against the body so that they move as one, and it is set down on any flat surface on arrival. It is picked up by the folded body, never by the bar or the band. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A folded clear ribbon with a mottled grey bar laid across it and gold-toned flakes through it is placed with our abstract sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.
Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
