Clear Furrowed Slab Acrylic Bench on Polished Frame (180cm) by Giant Sculptures, ridged acrylic seat on a mirror-polished steel frame, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Furrowed Slab Acrylic Bench on Polished Frame - 180cm $13,16300
Description

A long bench at a standard seat height. The seat, a heavy clear acrylic slab, is furrowed along the length of its upper face, so the top is not flat but gently ridged from end to end. Underneath, a mirror-polished steel frame stands on four uprights set well out toward the ends, which leaves less overhang than the length would suggest.

A Long Furrowed Slab on a Four-Legged Frame

The top is long enough that any mark on it is visible from one end to the other, so the whole length is worked to the same standard rather than only where the eye first falls. The upper face is worked into shallow furrows that run the full length, cut with a radiused tool so each trough is rounded rather than sharp and the whole surface stays comfortable. The furrows are then polished, which is the slow part - a flat top can be machine-lapped, and a furrowed one is brought up by hand along every trough. Their depth wanders slightly from one bench to the next because the finishing is done by feel. The frame is fabricated from square steel, mirror-polished on the outer faces, and the four uprights are set to carry the slab where it is stiffest.

A bench this long wants a wall it can sit against for its whole length, and it earns its keep in a hall or a wide landing where a brief one would look lost. Set at a standard height, the seat works as seating rather than as a surface. Set it where the mirror frame has something worth reflecting - a rug, a run of floorboards - because polished steel takes its colour from whatever is around it, and against a plain pale floor it will read almost white.

The Length, the Furrows, and Moving It

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. It can be shortened, and the furrows can be run across the width rather than along the length if you prefer them read as a series of bars. The frame is available brushed if a mirror finish is too active for the room. Length is the practical issue here: a slab this long cannot be turned on a landing or carried up a dog-leg staircase, so check the route before ordering. The slab ships on its flat, the frame flat-packed beside it, and the two bolt together on site in one operation. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Furrows running the full length of the seat belong with our art furniture; a ridged slab over mirror steel runs on into our acrylic sculptures, and a long seat for a wide landing joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
