One thick colourless sheet, folded three times, is the entire chair. The back rises and turns forward at the seat; the seat runs back and turns down at each side to reach the floor. There is no frame, no joint and no fixing anywhere on it. The fold lines are left crisp rather than rounded away, so the chair reads as a piece of paper worked at large scale.
Crisp folds and an unbroken surface are the two hardest things to have together. A tight fold in thick acrylic wants to whiten along the line, and any whitening on a colourless chair is visible from both sides at once, so the material has to come to the fold evenly across its full width and be held there while it takes the shape. Three folds means three chances to lose it, and the third is the worst because the sheet has already been worked twice. The two side folds must also finish at exactly the same height or the chair rocks, and there is no leg to pack out afterwards. The faces are polished after forming. Every sheet takes its folds slightly differently, so no two chairs sit identically.
A chair with no visible structure is worth putting where structure is the thing you want to avoid: at a glass table, in front of a window, in a room already full of legs. It reads as an outline from the front and as a solid plane from the side, so the approach matters. A dark floor makes the folds legible by giving them something to reflect, and a pale one lets the whole chair recede. Do not stand it on an uneven floor, since a folded sheet has no adjustment in it anywhere.
Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. The fold radius can be opened for a softer profile, and a frosted surface is available where less transparency is wanted. The sheet gauge can be increased for a heavier read or a wider seat. A tint can be introduced. Seat height is set within the fold geometry, so it is worth settling at order rather than later. The chair is formed from one sheet and cannot be broken down, so the route in wants measuring: it will pass a normal door upright but not lying down. One person can carry it, though two are easier because the folds are the only handholds and a colourless edge is unforgiving. It travels sleeved with the fold lines boxed. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Three folds standing in for a frame belong with our acrylic sculptures; one sheet worked like paper at full scale leads to our geometric sculptures, and a chair to set at a glass table joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
