The seat of this bench is a single long bar of clear acrylic, fluted from end to end so the top reads as a run of close parallel ribs. It is not set on its supports but held in them: two bronzed metal brackets pass over the bar and carry down each side into flat blades that reach the floor.
Holding a bar rather than standing it on a leg changes where the work is. Each bracket has to fit the fluted profile closely enough to grip without bearing on the ribs, so the inner face of the bracket is formed to the flute pattern rather than left flat, and the two brackets have to match each other to a tolerance you can see: a bar sitting even slightly down in one bracket reads as a sag across the whole span. The flutes themselves are run in one pass along the full length, since a bar worked in sections shows the joins as a change of rhythm. The bronzing is a chemical finish, so each bracket colours slightly differently.
A bench this long asks for a wall of its own: an entrance, a lobby, or the length of a dining room. The fluted top catches light along its length rather than across it, so a run of downlights does more for it than one fitting. The bronzed brackets are the only opaque elements and they read as two dark marks at the ends, which is worth setting out against the wall behind. Leave the overhangs clear at both ends.
A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. Bracket position is set at order and moving them inward or outward changes the whole balance of the bench. Flute pitch can be opened out or closed in, and the bar is offered plain. Length is cut to order. The brackets are available in a brighter brass, a darker bronze or a painted finish. Bar and brackets travel separately, and the bar is set down into its brackets on site rather than moved as a finished bench. Three people are wanted for the bar. Each bracket is a one-person carry and travels boxed. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A fluted bar gripped rather than propped belongs with our acrylic sculptures; brackets formed to the flute profile lead to our geometric sculptures, and seating held clear of the floor along a lobby wall joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
