This resin sculpture is a fissured rock, sold with the black marble block it stands on. It carries no colour at all and only one opening, a small oval set high on the right, which makes it a very quiet piece. Everything is therefore done by the surface: the whole mass is broken into fissures, facets and deep re-entrant hollows, with sharp spurs standing out along the top edge.
With no colour and almost no void, this piece has to hold attention on its modelling alone, and it does that by never presenting a flat face. Fissures run down the mass at different angles and depths, some barely a groove and some cutting in far enough to make a separate lobe. Between them the material is faceted rather than rounded, so an arris runs along most edges and picks up a hard bright line, and the deeper hollows go almost black by contrast. The single opening is small, high and off to one side, and its placement is what stops the mass reading as symmetrical. Along the top a row of short spurs breaks the outline. Below the middle the form draws in to a waist and then spreads onto the block, so the whole object is heavier above than below.
At 54cm it suits a sideboard, a wide shelf or a study, where it can be seen against something dark, and the block needs nothing under it. Because it is colourless and unpierced, a pale wall behind gives it almost nothing to work with, whereas a dark ground turns every facet into a bright line and the hollows into shadow. Side light is what it wants, and it also reads well under a downlight, since the spurs along the top catch it. Turn the single opening towards the room. Indoor use only.
Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. This form is also made in an aqua with gold flecks through it, which is a very different object: the colour fills the hollows and the flecks catch in the fissures, and it reads warm where the colourless version reads cold. If the piece is going against a pale wall that version is the better answer. On the modelling: the fissures can be cut deeper for a more broken mass or eased back for something closer to a worn boulder, and the spurs along the top can be left off. The opening runs from one, as here, to four, though beyond two the object stops being the quiet piece it was designed as. It can be made at other heights, keeping the same proportions. It ships with the block fitted, boxed with the spurs individually packed, and one person can handle it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A colourless rock broken into fissures belongs with our abstract sculptures; one small opening set high on a faceted mass suits our indoor sculptures, and clear resin worked into spurs and hollows places it among our resin sculptures.

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
