Clear Fawn Lying With Head Back Resin Sculpture - 60cm, legs folded with muzzle tilted back and throat exposed, polished clear finish on a plain white background.
Clear Fawn Lying With Head Back Resin Sculpture - 60cm $5,87200
Description

The fawn in this cast resin sculpture lies with its legs folded under it and its head thrown right back, so the muzzle is aimed up and behind it and the throat is left fully exposed. Almost all the detail is gone: there are no separate ears to speak of, no modelled muscle, and the animal is carried by two sweeping curves that meet at the shoulder. It is colourless and polished throughout and it sits low and wide rather than upright.

An Animal Made of Two Curves and Nothing Else

A form with this little on it has nowhere to hide. Two curves that meet have to meet cleanly, and the join at the shoulder is the single place where the piece can go wrong: a flat spot there breaks both curves at once, and on a polished clear body a flat spot announces itself as a kink in the reflection long before anyone can see the shape is off. So the shoulder is worked last, with flexible pads that ride the curve, and it is judged by turning the piece under one lamp and watching how the highlight runs: unbroken means the curve is unbroken too. The throat is the other difficulty, being concave and continuous, and it is finished with shaped tools before the head is brought to its own grade.

A low wide piece belongs on a low wide surface: a coffee table, a hearth, a broad window ledge, the floor beside a chair. It is seen from above as much as from the side, which is unusual and worth using, since the two curves cross when you look down on it. On a dark surface the outline reads clearly; on a pale one the animal almost merges with what it lies on. It suits a bedroom or a quiet sitting room rather than a hall, where it would be looked down on and passed.

Pose, Colour and Placing a Low Piece

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The head can be thrown back as here or rest on the flank, and the fawn can be made standing. Tints run through the resin in amber, smoke, green or a pale rose, and a frosted finish is offered in place of the polish. A lying doe and stag can be made to set with it as a group. Any scale is cut to order. It lies in its crate as it lies in a room, so nothing has to be fitted. Two should lift it, hands under the body and never at the neck. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A fawn lying with its muzzle tipped skyward belongs with our deer statues; two clean curves meeting at the shoulder lead to our animal sculptures, and polished resin to see from above joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
