Clear Eroded Yoke Back Cast Resin Armchair, 85cm, with rippled seat and tapered legs, shown front-facing on a plain white background.
Clear Eroded Yoke Back Cast Resin Armchair - 85cm $4,59000
Description

This clear resin armchair takes the classical yoke-back form and models its upper parts as though they had been eroded: the crest rail sweeps round into the arms and flares up and out at one back corner, the central splat is torn rather than cut, and the seat is a rippled sheet. The four legs, by contrast, are straight, smooth columns with a gentle taper. Colourless throughout.

A Yoke Back Left Looking Eroded

The erosion is part of the form from the start rather than ground in later, so the rail, the splat and the seat edge share one worked skin and none looks trimmed. The crest rail runs unbroken from arm to arm through the back, and the torn edges of the splat stand open, so each one is polished right through its thickness, working in from front and back. The four legs are worked back by hand to a taper. The seat is left as a rippled sheet and polished on both faces, because a clear seat is looked through from standing height.

At 85cm to the top of the crest rail this is a dining or an occasional armchair and it will run in to a table like any other. Being colourless it takes its presence from what is behind it, so a dark wall or a strong floor does more for it than a pale room, and a set of them reads as a row of outlines.

The Crest Rail, the Splat, and Ordering a Set

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. Most of it is the eroded crest rail. Three of its features are open. The erosion can be worked deeper or eased back, a tint is offered through the resin, and the splat can be left solid instead of torn. The seat width and the back height are open figures. Nothing holds the flare of the crest rail between separate orders. The flared corner of the crest rail and the four leg feet are the parts that will not take a knock, so each is boxed clear of the crate wall, and two people carry it in. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An eroded yoke-back chair cast clear is seating from our art furniture; it is made for the rooms of our indoor sculptures, and its colourless casting belongs with our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
