Clear Embedded Twig Cast Resin Tub Chair - 90cm by Giant Sculptures, front view showing bare brown twigs cast within the clear resin shell, legs, and arms, on a plain white background.
Clear Embedded Twig Cast Resin Tub Chair - 90cm $4,25200
Description

This cast resin tub chair is one rounded shell, its back curving round into two low arms above a dished seat, and the back is opened by a pair of upright slots. Held inside the clear resin are bare twigs, brown and fine, some no thicker than a pencil lead, and they run up through the walls of the shell and down into all four tapered legs. Nothing is printed or applied; the twigs sit at different depths in the material and shift as you move round the chair.

Twigs Held Through Shell and Leg

What is inside the material is the reason to own this chair, and the shell is shaped to show it. Bare twigs stand within the clear resin, brown and fine, some no thicker than a pencil lead, and they run up through the walls of the tub and down into all four legs, so the piece is continuous in more than one sense. They sit at different depths, which means each one is read at a different focus and the arrangement changes as you move round the chair. Two vertical slots are cut through the back, and they matter: they let light in from behind, and without them the twigs on the far wall would be read against nothing. No two chairs hold the same twigs.

At 90cm it is a wide tub chair, and it needs room around it. Light from behind is what makes the twigs read, so a window or a lamp behind it is worth more than anything in front, and the two slots in the back exist for exactly that. A plain wall suits it. It is heavy for a chair and takes two people. Indoor use.

What Goes Inside, and What Is Open

Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. Most of it is the embedded twigs. Three things are settled at order. The resin is offered tinted, the slots in the back can be left out, and the twigs can be held in the shell only rather than running into the legs. Which twigs go in is ours to select. You set the seat height and you set the overall width. The arrangement of the twigs in the shell is held across a set; it is not held from one order to the next. With the rim of the tub and the four legs crated clear, four people can bring it in. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Bare twigs held through shell and leg make this tub chair seating for our art furniture; the clear casting suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and a window-backed corner among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
