Clear Eight-Faced Prism Resin Sculpture - 68cm with tapering faceted form on a round base, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Eight-Faced Prism Resin Sculpture - 68cm $7,22600
Description

The prism tapers from a wide crown to a narrow foot, cut to eight faces that meet in sharp arrises. Colourless from the crown to the foot, with each face returning its own light and no pigment anywhere. The crown is cut flat across all eight sides, and the arrises run straight down from it. A shallow round base is supplied beneath it.

Eight Faces and Eight Different Answers

Every face on this piece is at a different angle to every source in the room, so no two of them return the same thing at the same moment. That is the whole of the design and it is why the arrises are left sharp: a softened edge would let two faces bleed into one another and the count would go. Eight faces on a tapering body means eight different angles for the light to arrive at, and an uncoloured casting is what lets each of them read separately instead of blending. Polished on every face and around the crown, with the arrises left sharp.

A desk or a bookshelf will take it, somewhere it can be turned. Something dark behind it, since a colourless prism against a pale wall keeps almost no edge. One source off to the side lights three faces and leaves the rest; flat light returns the whole of it evenly and says less. The taper carries at a distance and the separate faces sort themselves out close to.

Another Count of Faces, and One Crate

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. Say the word and the faces are counted differently, a tint goes through the body, or the prism is made at another height. Change the count of faces and the taper is redrawn, because the arrises have to meet the crown together. One crate, and the base travels beneath the prism. Two people at the crate, hands at the base and not the arrises. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A colourless prism cut to eight faces stands in our indoor sculptures; its sharp, straight arrises belong with our contemporary and modern sculptures, and the clear body taking light at every face joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
