Clear Drip Carved Acrylic Bench on Mirror Blades (140cm) by Giant Sculptures, featuring a drip-textured clear acrylic seat on two polished stainless steel blade legs, shown against a plain white background.
Clear Drip Carved Acrylic Bench on Mirror Blades - 140cm $10,59800
Description

A thick panel of A-grade imported acrylic, machine-carved across its whole face into a vertical drip and rolled over along both long edges, carried on two narrow mirror-polished stainless blades. The blades stand a good way inboard of each end, so the panel reads as one suspended line. The carved face wraps the front and returns along the top.

A Vertical Drip Held Through the Depth

A vertical texture over a depth like this is a different job from the same texture on a thin sheet, because each drip has to be carried the full depth of the material and stay legible at the bottom where the light arriving through the panel is weakest. The A grade matters for exactly that reason: an ordinary cast panel carries enough internal haze at this depth to grey out the bottom half of every drip. The long arrises are then rolled, which turns the carved face into a smooth top surface without a line between the two. The blades are polished to a mirror rather than brushed, so each one takes a reflection of the drip above it and appears to continue the texture downward. No two panels carry the same drip pattern, because the cutter is stepped by hand between passes.

This one asks for length. The blades stand well in from the ends and the carved face runs unbroken, so it wants a wall it can run along rather than a corner that cuts it: a long hall, the side of a dining room, a lobby seat. Overhead light is what animates a vertical carve, and a light source in front of it will do far less. Mirror blades work best over a plain hard floor, where they pick up the floor tone and effectively disappear; over a patterned rug they fragment.

Grade of Panel, Blade Width and What Travels

Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. The panel is offered in other depths, which changes both the price and how far the light gets down each drip. The drip can be run horizontally instead, and the carve can be taken to a coarser or finer pitch. Blades can be brushed rather than mirror-finished if a quieter support is wanted, and a colour can be introduced into the acrylic. Panel and blades travel separately, with the blades bolting into threaded plates set into the underside, so the components come in one at a time and nothing is manoeuvred at full length. Two people are wanted for the panel, which is a substantial lift at this depth. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A vertical drip carved through a thick panel belongs with our acrylic sculptures; narrow mirror blades that take its reflection lead to our stainless steel sculptures, and seating along a hotel lobby wall joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
