The working on this bench is a field rather than a flow: the clear faces are covered in small dimples, close together and roughly even in size, so the panel reads as a beaten surface instead of a rippled one. Its two blades are mirror-polished metal, and each picks up the dimpled face above as a broken reflection.
A field of dimples is a different problem from a ripple because there is no line to follow. Every dimple is a separate act, and the eye reads the distribution rather than any individual one, so they have to be dense enough to cover without falling into rows and irregular enough to avoid a pattern while staying even in scale. In a clear body each dimple also acts as a small lens, which is why the field looks silvered from some angles and almost invisible from others. The arrises are rolled after the field is worked so the dimples run over the edge rather than stopping at it.
A beaten surface changes completely with the angle of the light, so this wants somewhere the light moves: near a window, under a fitting that gets switched on in the evening, along a wall you pass at different times. It sits low, so it can serve as a surface in front of a sofa as well as a seat. Mirror blades ask for a plain hard floor; on a rug they break up and the floating effect is lost. Leave the ends clear so the panel reads as a single length.
It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. Dimple scale is open, from a fine peening to a coarse hammered field, and it can be confined to the long faces with the top left smooth. Panel depth is offered heavier. Length is cut to order and a tint can be introduced. Blades are available brushed or coated where the mirror is too active, and their spacing is set at order. Panel and blades travel separately and bolt up through plates in the underside, so the bench arrives as three items and a normal doorway is enough. Two people are wanted for the panel, and each blade travels boxed. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Dimples packed as close as a beaten surface belong with our acrylic sculptures; a dimpled face broken up in mirror blades leads to our metal sculptures, and a low bench doubling as a surface by a sofa joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
