Clear Cut Fluted Resin Vase Sculpture - 68cm
Clear Cut Fluted Resin Vase Sculpture - 68cm $2,16000
Description

A vessel with a fluted body and a flared neck, standing on a stepped foot worked into the same clear material. Colourless throughout, so the only tone in it is the grey the cut faces gather at their edges. Nothing is supplied beneath it: the vessel is cast with a stepped foot and stands on that.

A Tonal Range With No Pigment in It

Cutting flutes into a vessel is the oldest way of giving a colourless material a tonal range, and it still works because the edges do it and not the faces. Every edge on this piece collects a line of grey and every face returns a highlight. Between the two there is a full range of tone in a body that carries no colour at all, which is what cutting was for long before pigment became easy. Cutting flutes into a colourless body means the material collects a grey line at every edge, and the vessel gets its whole tonal range without a pigment anywhere in it. Polished on every flute and on every step of the foot.

A dining table, a sideboard or a hall console will all take it, and it reads as a vessel before it reads as anything else. A plain wall behind it, dark, so the cut edges carry as bright lines. Light from one side picks out every flute; from directly above it fills the whole body. It reads as a vessel from any distance, and the cutting is what separates it from one at close range.

Opening the Flutes, and Nothing to Assemble

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. The flute count can be opened, the neck can be drawn wider, and the body can be cast with a tint in it. Open the flute count and the body is reproportioned to it, because the flutes have to close at the neck or the cutting looks abandoned. A single crate, packed the way up it stands, and nothing to be done to it once the packing is off. One person and both hands, with the grip on the body. The neck is the last place to take hold of it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear fluted vessel on a stepped foot is part of our indoor sculptures; its cut facets suit our contemporary and modern sculptures, and the colourless body takes its place among our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
