This is a table top on its own. No base, frame or leg is supplied with it. The outline is a soft irregular round rather than a circle or a true oval, wider on one axis than the other, and the rim is left rounded and slightly uneven. The upper face is worked over its whole area into a close field of crests and hollows.
The face is not textured at the edges and left flat in the middle. The crest field runs the full length without a plain passage anywhere in it, and each crest stands just proud of the hollow beside it, which is enough to break the reflection and read as a body of water rather than as a pattern. The crests are not parallel: they gather into short runs, fork, and change direction, and there are pockets where several meet and the surface knots up. Against that busy face the rim is quiet, a rounded band with almost nothing on it, and that band is what tells the eye how thick the material is. No two tops carry the same crest field, so a second one is a comparable piece rather than a matching one.
Being the top alone, the first decision is what stands under it. This wants support that reaches out towards the rim on at least three points rather than one narrow column, since a base that stops well short leaves a wide unsupported overhang. A pale or clear base keeps the worked face as the only thing being looked at, and a dark one turns the crests into a bright pattern above it. The face is the piece, so put it where it is looked down on, in the open or under a rooflight, rather than against a wall. Indoor use only.
Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. More is variable here than the plan size. The outline is drawn to the buyer's shape, whether that is this soft round, a true oval, or a rectangle carrying the same face. A thicker panel is made where a longer span is wanted. The crest field is run coarse, as here, or fine, which reads closer to frost than to water. And the material can be tinted rather than left colourless. There is no base with this product: the studio will make one to the top at order in stainless, timber or stone and quote it separately, and where a base is being made elsewhere a dimensioned drawing of the underside is supplied at no charge. It travels flat and face up between soft interleaves on a purpose-built pallet, and is a two-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A crested clear top awaiting a base you choose belongs with our art furniture; it is shown among our indoor sculptures, and the rippled crests with our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
