Clear Crazed Disc Fluted Steel Drum Table, 110cm, with a silvery crazed glass top over a mirror sheet on a fluted bronze base, shown on a plain white background.
Clear Crazed Disc Fluted Steel Drum Table - 110cm $6,27700
Description

A thick clear disc whose whole upper face is worked into a dense crazing, laid over a mirror sheet that sits directly beneath it. The mirror throws the crazing back up through the material, so the top reads silver rather than clear. It stands on a low stainless steel drum, fluted at a close and even pitch all the way round its side.

A Crazed Disc Over a Mirror Sheet

The mirror sheet is cut to the disc and bedded under it so no gap is left between the two, because a gap would show as a grey ring from above. The crazing is worked into the upper mould face right to the edge, and it is the mirror below that turns it silver: the same disc over a dark ground reads almost black. The drum's flutes are cut at a constant pitch and each is finished singly, since a wheel run across two of them at once would round the ridge between. The drum top is trued across its full width before the disc goes on.

It is a low table for the middle of a room. The mirror beneath the top means the crazing changes with the light in a way a clear disc would not, and it shows most from directly above. The drum is low, so the top sits well down, and a sofa with a low seat suits it better than a deep one.

The Crazing, the Mirror, and the Fluted Drum

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. What takes longest is the crazed face. Three things are yours to choose. The mirror can be left out for a wholly clear top, the drum can be finished in any tone, and the crazing can be worked at any density. Board diameter and flute height are both quoted on request. Several ordered together are worked so that the crazing of the face agrees. The crate is built around the crazed face and the fluted drum, and four people should carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A close-fluted steel drum under a crazed disc sets the low table beside our stainless steel sculptures and our metal sculptures; drawn up to a low sofa it joins our art furniture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
