A cradle of near-colourless resin on a long black block. It is cut into deep combs that radiate from the foot to the rim, and both ends are torn away into points where the combs break through the edge. There is little colour in it: a green cast gathers toward the two torn ends, yellow-green at one and a smoky grey-green at the other, where the outer edge is left as a smooth band, and the middle and the foot are clear. The black marble block is supplied, and it reaches further across than the cradle standing on it.
Combed and left almost colourless, the grooves have to do nearly everything here, with only a green cast at the two ends to help them. The combs run from the foot right out to the rim, where their ends break it into points, so the piece has a direction and the tearing reads as the combing finished rather than as damage. A smooth, clear fold crosses the hollow on a diagonal, the one passage the combs leave alone, and it gives the eye a quiet line to measure the rest against. The combs are polished inside as well as out, which is unusual and is what keeps the piece from going grey.
A console or a broad shelf, with the block given room to be seen as part of it. Set it where the wall behind is plain, since almost everything in it is seen through. Light passes through nearly all of it, and the combs are what catch and hold some of it. Almost nothing carries at a distance except the block; the cradle is a near object.
It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The combs are cut deeper, a colour is put into the body, and the block is made to match the cradle's own width. Cut to the width of the cradle, the block stops flush with both of its ends, and the whole thing reads as a single narrow object. The green can also be carried further in from the ends. The cradle is lifted by its foot and the thick roots of the combs, never by either torn end. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A near-colourless cradle combed from foot to rim and green at its torn ends is grouped with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
