Clear Cast Resin Salon Armchair - 78cm
Clear Cast Resin Salon Armchair - 78cm $4,04800
Description

This armchair is cast entirely in colourless resin. The form is a salon chair of the older kind: a back rail curves round and sweeps forward into closed arms, an open splat carries the middle, the seat is shaped rather than flat, and four tapered legs stand outswept at the corners. Nothing is tinted. The piece is one continuous water clear mass, so the whole traditional profile is drawn in light rather than in colour.

A Salon Chair Read Through Its Own Material

This is a salon chair of the older kind drawn entirely in clear material, and the effect is that the profile is read as an outline rather than as a mass. The curved back rail, the closed arms, the open splat and the four outswept tapered legs are all recognisable at a glance from twenty paces. Close to, none of them has any colour at all: what the eye follows is the bright edge where each member turns, and the room behind the chair showing through it. That makes the chair read differently against every background it is put on. The legs are the thinnest members and disappear soonest, so from across a room the seat and arms can appear to float.

At 78cm to the back rail it suits a dining table or an occasional corner, and it carries a full sized seat. Water clear furniture works hardest where it needs to disappear: at a table in a small room, in a hall where a solid chair would block the line of sight, or as a pair either side of a console. Against a busy floor it becomes confusing, so give it something plain underneath. It shows every mark and fingerprint at close range, which is worth knowing before choosing it for daily use. Indoors only.

The Leg Profile, the Splat, and the Clarity of the Pour

Allow 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. A colourless chair of this size and profile is the slow part. Three things are open. The leg, from this tapered and outswept profile through to a straight square section that reads far more plainly. The splat, which can stay open as it is here, be filled solid, or carry a shaped pierced panel. And the clarity, since a faint tint through the whole body hides small marks and is worth considering for a chair in daily use. Seat height and overall width are quoted to your own figures, and a pair or a set is made together. It comes in one crate, finished, and two people should carry it through a doorway. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Its salon outline traced in clear resin, this armchair is gathered into our art furniture; made for rooms indoors, it belongs too in our indoor sculptures, and the water-clear casting with our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
