Description

Long legs striped in amber and black splay out from the insect held in this clear resin cylinder, six of them, with two thread-thin antennae rising above its head, one curling over at the tip. Its wings fan open to either side, smoky olive-black with an ochre band along the leading edge, and its tapering body is ringed in amber and dark brown. It hangs in the top half of the cylinder, leaving clear space beneath.

Striped Legs and Fanned Smoky Wings

Polished to a smooth round finish in imported clear resin, the cylinder lets you follow every band on the legs from the body out to the dark tip of each foot. The wings are thin and faintly translucent, darkening from olive at the root to near-black at the rim, and the ochre edging is speckled with small dark flecks. The amber rings of the body catch warm light where they curve. Every insect is a separate specimen, so the banding, the curl of the antennae and the spread of the wings are never repeated exactly from cylinder to cylinder.

On a bookshelf or a console it reads like an illustration from an old natural history book, and the striping repays close attention. At 37cm it fits comfortably on a sideboard or the corner of a desk, roughly at eye height when you are seated. Pale walls and warm wood around it bring out the amber banding. Indoor use only.

A Banded Specimen Made to Order, and Its Delivery

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. A single cylinder makes up each order, and it is cast once the order has come in. If you prefer a bespoke piece, ask for another insect, some dried ferns or a different height, and the resin itself can be tinted a soft, warm amber if you wish. It travels in a padded box with protection at both ends, and it can go on display the day it is unpacked. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
