Clear Back & Black Frame Cast Resin Dining Chair, 75cm, with a clear curved resin back rail and glossy black seat and tapered legs, shown on a plain light background.
Clear Back & Black Frame Cast Resin Dining Chair - 75cm $3,77900
Description

This is a cast dining chair in two finishes. The back is a single colourless rail, broad and shallow, curving round from one arm position to the other in one sweep and thick enough to read as a block of glass. Everything below it is a dense gloss black: a flat seat, and four legs that leave the seat's corners and taper as they run to the floor, splaying very slightly outward.

A Clear Rail Above, a Black Frame Below

The chair sets two finishes against each other on one form. The rail is colourless and thick, so the wall behind it shows through compressed and displaced; where it meets the black at the bottom it catches that black and carries it a little way up into the clear as a dark shadow. Below the join everything is opaque and highly polished, and the gloss on the seat and the legs picks up the room as narrow bright streaks. Because the rail is broad and shallow rather than tall, the chair reads low from behind despite its height, and the whole back appears to float above the black frame. The four legs are square in section where they leave the seat and round by the time they reach the floor.

At 75cm to the top of the rail with the seat at dining height, this is a working dining chair and it will tuck under a standard table. It suits a dining room, a kitchen island run or a desk, and a set of four around a pale table reads as four black frames with the wall showing through each back. The clear rail means the chair takes up less visual space than its bulk suggests, which helps in a small room. It looks best with something plain behind it, since the whole rail reads through. The splayed feet want a hard floor. Indoors only.

Where the Black Stops, and the Depth of the Rail

Delivery follows a 3–4 week build as standard, or a 5–6 week build if bespoke. Where the black stops is the whole design and the first decision: at the seat as here, part way up the rail, or over the entire chair with no clear at all. The depth of the rail is second, from this broad shallow sweep through to a tall back that turns the chair into a carver. Third is what the black is taken to: this high gloss, or a matt that kills the reflection entirely and leaves the frame reading as a flat outline. Colours other than black are available for the frame. Seat height and overall height are cut to your own figures. Each chair arrives crated and complete, and one person can carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Its clear back rail is cast like our resin sculptures, its gloss black frame is moulded like the pieces in our fibreglass sculptures, and as a dining chair it belongs to our art furniture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
