Clear Arched Upright Resin Sculpture - 170cm by Giant Sculptures, a polished colourless resin form arching upward on a splayed foot, set on a black marble base against a plain light background.
Clear Arched Upright Resin Sculpture - 170cm $5,87200
Description

An arched upright in cast resin, raised on black marble. A splayed foot carries a body that turns right over at the top into an open flare, with a fin-like plane swung out to one side at about half the height. It is cast colourless and polished, so the room behind shows through the body and every edge carries a line of light. A black marble plinth is supplied, and the piece bears on it through the splay of its foot.

Colourless Resin Drawn Into an Arch

Colourless resin shows everything about a form, because the eye reads its edges and its thicknesses at once: where the body is thick the room behind it bends, and where it thins to the fin and the flare it becomes almost a line of light. There is no flat anywhere on it, so the highlights travel as you walk past and nothing in it stays put. At this height every curve has to run evenly along its whole length, because the eye follows the full rise of the body, and a casting this tall is poured with care so that no cloud forms anywhere in it. Polished on every face, inside the flare as much as outside it.

An entrance hall, a wide landing or a garden room, with a darker wall behind it so the clear edges have something to read against. Light from the side picks out the fin and the flare in bright lines; light from straight ahead flattens the whole body to grey. It reads as a bright vertical from the far end of a room and only becomes an arch at about five paces.

A Tint, the Plinth, and Getting It In

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The arch is drawn further over, a colour can be added through the body, and the plinth is cut in a paler stone. Draw the arch further over and the plinth is widened, because the top already stands outside the foot. Plinth down and levelled, the casting is then set onto it, and its wrapping stays on until everything round it is finished. Two people and gloves throughout, since a fingerprint on clear resin shows in any light. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Tall arched uprights with a fin swung out at half height stand in our indoor sculptures, its turned-over flare suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and the cast body itself belongs to our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
