A torso cut flat at the waist, colourless at the edges and clouding to grey through the middle of the mass. Colourless at the edges and clouded grey through the middle, so the smoke sits where the body is thickest. Nothing is supplied beneath it: the cut of the waist is flat and the piece stands on the surface it is set down on.
A rough face and a polished one are not two finishes on a torso. They are two readings of the same form. The worked front holds the light and stops at the surface, while the polished sides let it through to the grey inside, so the piece looks solid from one position and open from the next. Grey clouding inside a clear body means the material shows its own thickness, and the torso is darkest exactly where there is most of it to see through. The front is worked rough and the sides are taken to a polish, which is the whole of the surface argument.
A desk, a shelf or a bedside table will take it, since it stays well inside its own footprint. Stand it against a pale ground, so the clouding reads as cloud and not as a flaw in the material. Light from one side finds the rough front; light from behind puts the grey core on display. The rough face and the polished ones give it two readings, and there is no single place to stand that gives both at once.
The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. The rough working can be carried further round, the grey can be left out, and the piece is made at other heights. Carry the rough working round and the polished sides go with it, because the piece is built on the difference between the two. One crate, and nothing in it that has to be joined to anything else. It is lifted out and stood where it is going. One person can manage it, though two hands are wanted for the lift out of the crate. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A torso cut flat at the waist, clouded inside, belongs with our indoor sculptures; its rough and polished faces suit our contemporary and modern sculptures, and the clear casting joins our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
