Brown Smoked Cone Base Acrylic Side Table - 55cm with round glass top on a closed, flared acrylic cone base, shown against a plain light grey background.
Brown Smoked Cone Base Acrylic Side Table - 55cm $2,15900
Description

This acrylic side table is a cone of smoked brown with a round top resting on it. The cone is closed on every side and flares from a narrow shoulder at the top out to the floor, so the table has no legs and no openings anywhere in it except the underside. Top and cone are the same smoked brown, dark enough to read as a colour and clear enough to see the far wall through.

A Closed Cone Under a Round Top

A closed cone asks more of the material than any other base form here. The sheet has to be drawn round onto itself and the seam closed along a line that runs the whole height, and in a smoked material that seam sits in the middle of a tinted field where there is nowhere to lose it - so it is worked until it takes the light at the same angle as the faces either side of it. The flare is set by the former and every cone comes off it slightly differently, so the ring where it meets the floor is trued afterwards on each piece rather than to a drawing. The smoke is in the material and reads deeper where you look through two walls of the cone at once, which is why the middle of it looks darker than the edges.

At 55cm the top meets the height of a sofa arm, so this is a table to draw up beside a seat and not one to set in front of it. The closed cone gives it a solidity that a leg base does not, so it holds its own next to a large piece of upholstery instead of disappearing beside it. Smoked brown warms a room the way tinted glass does, and it sits comfortably with timber, leather and brass. Over a pale floor the cone reads as a soft shadow; over a dark one it nearly vanishes.

The Smoke, the Cone, and Getting It In

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The smoke can be run lighter or deeper, and the same cone is available in a clear or a coloured acrylic. The top can be cut wider on the same base and squared off if a round top is too soft for the room. The table arrives in two pieces, the cone and the top, and the top locates on the cone's shoulder without fixings, so nothing needs tools on arrival and the crate is no wider than the top itself. Neither piece needs a second pair of hands. The cone is the more vulnerable part in transit and travels standing, packed against its own shoulder rather than its rim. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A closed cone under a round top belongs with our acrylic sculptures; smoked brown that warms a room leads to our geometric sculptures, and a table drawn up beside a seat joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
