Blue to White Stacked Slab Resin Column - 120/150/160/200cm $3,57700
Description

A column built as a stack of square slabs, offered in four heights. Each slab is set at a small angle to the one beneath it, so the column turns as it rises and its silhouette is a run of stepped corners rather than a straight edge. The colour is graded up the height: a strong teal blue at the head, thinning through the middle, and almost white at the foot.

A Square Stack That Turns as It Rises

The offsets are what make this work at height. Each slab overhangs its neighbour on two sides and is undercut on the other two, so every course throws a small shadow and the column reads as a helix rather than as a post. Because the turn is only a few degrees a course, the effect accumulates: the short column looks almost straight and the tall one has visibly twisted, and the four sizes therefore have genuinely different characters rather than being one object scaled. The colour then works against the geometry. Blue is held at the head where the eye goes last, and it gives out towards the foot, so a tall column appears to lift off the floor rather than sit on it. Each slab carries its own faint internal clouding, and no two stacks land their corners in the same places.

These are floor pieces and they suit being used in pairs. The narrow square section gives a small footprint for the height, so two flanking a doorway, an opening or the head of a stair cost very little floor. The shortest reads at seated eye level and works beside a sofa or a console; the two tallest are architectural and want a full-height wall behind them. All four need to be seen from at least two sides for the turn to register, so a corner suits them and an alcove does not. Light from one side is what puts a shadow under every course. Indoor use only.

Four Heights, the Twist and the Colour

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. A pair is matched so the two twist in the same direction and the colour lands at the same height. The four heights are the variants, all of the same narrow square section. The rate of the twist is set at order, from almost none, which gives a plain stepped column, to twice this, at which point the top slabs overhang well past the foot. On colour: this teal is standard, with a green, an amber and a colourless version all made, and the gradient can be reversed so the tone is held at the foot. It travels upright in a fitted case with every course packed, and the shortest is a one-person carry while the tallest needs two people to lift and two to stand. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Stacked teal slabs turning as they rise belong to our abstract sculptures; the graded column joins our resin sculptures, and a pair can flank a doorway among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
