Description

A female torso standing with the weight on one leg, turned away from the viewer, with no head, no arms and no detail worked into the surface anywhere. Deep blue holds the shoulders and drains down the body until the hem is colourless. A black marble block is supplied, cut to the footprint of the torso rather than square, with a fine gold line inlaid across it.

A Figure With Nothing to Read but the Line

A torso has no face and no hands to carry the expression, so all of it has to be in the stance and the outline. Turning the figure away is the whole decision: a torso seen from behind cannot be read as a portrait, so the piece stays an object about a shape rather than about a person. A body with no arms, no head and no detail has only its outline and its depth of colour, and both have to be right at every point. Polished over the whole surface, with nothing textured anywhere on it.

A hall, a landing or a bedroom, seen from behind as it is drawn to be. A plain wall. The colourless half at the hem takes up whatever is behind it and holds it. Light from above gathers in the shoulders and drains out of the hem, following the colour down. The silhouette carries from any distance and the graduation begins at about four paces.

Carrying the Blue Further Down, and Delivery

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. The blue is carried further down, a second colour is run into the hem, and a deeper block is cut. Carry the blue further down and the shoulders have to be deepened with it, or the top of the figure loses its weight. Block down and levelled first, then the torso lowered onto it and left unfixed. Two people. Take it under the hips, and the shoulders carry nothing. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
