Blue to Clear Graduated Resin Dining Chair, 86cm, with deep blue seat fading to clear legs and backrest, shown on a plain white background.
Blue to Clear Graduated Resin Dining Chair - 86cm $3,24000
Description

A dining chair in cast resin. The colour is graduated rather than even: the backrest is almost colourless, the two uprights carry blue down their length, the seat is the deepest blue in the piece, and the four legs fade back out to clear at the feet. The form is a plain one, a square dished seat, straight tapered legs and a shaped back panel.

A Deep Blue Seat Between Two Clear Ends

The gradient is the whole design and it is arranged around the seat. Read from the top, the back panel is barely tinted, then blue enters at the shoulders of the uprights and strengthens all the way down until the seat is a saturated navy across its full width. Below that it reverses: the legs carry blue for their first third and clear steadily to almost nothing where they meet the floor. The effect is a piece of furniture with weight in the middle and nothing at either end. The form under it is deliberately ordinary, which is what lets the colour do the work: a square seat with a shallow dish and a rolled front edge, straight legs on a slight taper, and a back panel with a cut-out at the base of each upright. The gradient is placed by hand, so its boundaries fall differently on each chair.

At 86cm the chair suits a table at standard dining height, and because its seat is set a little under the usual one it is not a chair for a bar or a counter. Its compact footprint lets six or eight run round a table without crowding. It reads best against a pale floor, where the clearing legs almost disappear and the blue seat appears to float, and it loses most of that against a dark carpet. A single chair also works at a dressing table or a hall table. Indoor use only.

Seat Height, Set Sizes and Which Way the Blue Runs

As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. A set is cast in one run, so the gradients relate to one another. Seat height is the first thing to settle, and a higher seat for a tall table is made by lengthening the legs rather than altering the body. The gradient direction is the second. Blue at the seat as here is standard, and it can be run the opposite way with the colour held at the feet and the seat left clear, or held at the back panel alone. Grey, amber and green are all made in place of the blue. The seat can be supplied with a fitted pad if the chair is for daily dining. A bench can be made to order in the same gradient. Chairs travel four to a crate, upright and separated by moulded packers, arrive fully assembled, and one person can carry two. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue seat between a clear back and clearing legs gives this chair its place in our art furniture, beside our indoor sculptures, and its graduated blue casting with our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
