Blue Stepped Mountain Range Acrylic Sculpture - 65cm, layered acrylic peaks in blue tones on a white marble base, shown against a plain light background.
Blue Stepped Mountain Range Acrylic Sculpture - 65cm $2,10200
Description

An acrylic sculpture of a stepped mountain range, cut from stacked horizontal sheets, every layer set a little back from the one under it, so the profile rises to three summits: the highest on the right, a second left of centre and a small third beside it, with a low knob closing the range at its right-hand tip. It stands on a white marble block, and the stack carries on below the horizon as an inverted double cone, so the piece reads as a range and its own reflection at once. The material is clear and frosted through the middle and at the tops of the summits, blue along every flank and deep blue at the two tips beneath.

Every Step Is a Contour, Not a Texture

The step between one sheet and the next is doing something more specific here than adding texture, and it is worth saying what. Each layer is a contour: it is the shape of the landform at one height, and the distance between layers is the interval between contours. That means the profile is not drawn as an outline at all. It is drawn as a series of horizontal sections, and the outline is what those sections add up to when they are stacked. Where the slope is gentle the sections step out a long way from each other and the terraces are wide; where it steepens they crowd together and the edge reads almost as a line. Every visible feature of the piece follows from choosing those sections rather than from cutting a silhouette, which is why its three summits differ so much: the highest climbs through the most sheets in small, even steps, while the two on its left rise only a few sheets above the horizon. The blue sits at the ends of the sheets, so it lines every flank and gathers most densely at the two tips below.

It is a piece to be met up close and often from slightly above, which suits it: from above, the terraces read as terraces and the contour interval becomes obvious. A study desk, a sideboard, a wide shelf or the top of a low cabinet all work. It wants a plain field behind it and light from behind or from one side. Backlighting picks out every layer edge as a bright line and makes the inverted cone below the ground line read properly; a light directly in front fills the frosted middle and the steps disappear into it.

The Stack, the Stone and Lifting It

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. Span, summit arrangement and the contour interval are all drawn per piece, so a single peak, a long range of four summits, or a version with the sections set far apart for a terraced reading are all from this design. The tint is settled at order: this blue, a green that reads as wooded rather than as ice, an amber, or clear throughout so the piece is only edges. The stack is lifted by the sides of its layers, never by a summit or by the two tips beneath, and set down squarely on the marble. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Pared back to a stepped profile, a skyline becomes abstract sculpture; the sheet it comes from is acrylic sculpture; and frosted faces keep their bloom best in indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
