Blue Graded Inset Cross Bar Side Table, 43cm, acrylic with cross-shaped panel base and inset bar top, color deepening toward the floor, on a plain white background.
Blue Graded Inset Cross Bar Side Table - 43cm $2,90200
Description

The top of this side table carries a cross-shaped bar let into its upper face, sitting flush so the surface stays usable and reading as a line rather than a ridge. Under the top, two panels cross at right angles and are halved into each other where they meet. The colour is strongest down where the panels reach the floor and thins as it rises through the top.

A Cross Let Into the Face of the Top

Letting one piece of acrylic into another flush is harder than standing it proud, because both the housing and the bar have to be cut to the same section and any daylight between them is magnified by the material around it. The housing is machined to depth in one pass so its floor is flat, the bar is cut a shade full and worked back, and the two are bonded and then finished together across the face so no step can be felt with a hand. The crossing panels are halved the same way. The grade goes in at the cast, which is why the colour runs on through the crossing rather than stopping at it.

This table goes where a chair needs something at arm's length: beside a bed, at the corner of a sofa, between two armchairs. The inset cross gives the top a centre, so it suits a single object - a lamp, a glass, a stack of two books - better than a spread of things. At 43cm it meets a chair arm. The graded blue reads strongest where the panels meet a pale floor.

Inlay Depth, Colour Direction and Ordering a Group

Build times separate standard from bespoke: 3–4 weeks against 5–6. Inlay depth and bar width are set at order, and the cross can be run as a single bar or left out for a plain top. The grade can be turned to gather at the top instead of the floor, taken through a green, a grey or an amber, or dropped for a colourless table. The panels can be crossed at another angle, which changes the plan without changing the parts. Size is cut to order. It travels assembled in a crate and is a one-person carry, and a group ordered together is tinted at the same time, so the grade runs evenly across the whole set. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A cross let flush into a blue top belongs with our acrylic sculptures; two panels halved into one another lead to our geometric sculptures, and a table at arm's length from a chair joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
