Blue Graded Box Acrylic Bench on Three Cubes - 140cm, a clear acrylic bench with three blue cube legs deepening in color toward the floor, shown on a plain white background.
Blue Graded Box Acrylic Bench on Three Cubes - 140cm $6,27700
Description

Three open cubes carry a long open box and rise up through it, and all four parts are blue acrylic. The seat sits at an ordinary height. The grade is the thing to notice. On most graded acrylic the colour sits at the top; here the blue is strongest where the cubes meet the floor and drains away as it rises, so the seat is almost colourless and the weight of colour sits underneath it.

A Blue That Gathers at the Floor

Running a grade upward instead of downward sounds like the same job turned over and is not. The deep end of a graded sheet is where the pigment is densest and therefore where the material is least forgiving to cut, and on this bench that end is at the foot of every cube, the three places a knock is likely and a chip would show most. Each cube is cut so its deepest blue lands at the floor and its palest at the box above, and the four parts are then set out so the colour steps evenly across the length rather than jumping from one cube to the next. The edges are flame-polished, which on a deep blue reads almost black and is what gives each cube its drawn outline. No two benches step the colour identically, because the sheet varies along its own length.

An open-box bench reads as a line of boxes rather than a mass, so it will sit in a room that already has furniture in it without adding another block. The seat is at a normal height and deep enough to sit back on. Put it over a pale floor if you can: the strong blue at the foot throws colour down onto the boards and the almost-clear seat seems to hover above it. Against a dark floor the effect closes up and the cubes read as solid blocks.

Which Way the Grade Runs, and Assembly

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The grade can be turned the other way up if you want the colour at the seat, and it is available in other colours from the same sheet run. The cube count can be changed, to two or four, which alters where the supports fall. The box and the three cubes travel separately and are bonded together on site, so the bench comes up a normal staircase in four parts rather than one. Two people should handle the box. Each cube is sleeved on its own, since a deep blue edge shows a scuff far more readily than a clear one does. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue that gathers at the floor belongs with our acrylic sculptures; open cubes threaded through a long box lead to our geometric sculptures, and a bench that adds no extra block to a room joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
