Blue Frosted Textured Disc Resin Sculpture - 47cm, round disc with frothy textured center and smooth blue rim, mounted upright on a clear block stand, plain white background.
Blue Frosted Textured Disc Resin Sculpture - 47cm $2,56500
Description

A frosted disc, blue throughout and deepest at the rim, with a broken frothy field covering the inner face and a smooth band left around its edge. One small raised point stands at the centre of the field. It is carried upright on a clear block, held by a single slim pin, and the block comes with it.

Two Surfaces Out of One Tool

Two surfaces meeting on one face have to come off one tool, and the join between them is where the work is. A frothy broken field and a smooth band meet along a circle, and any wobble in that circle is read instantly because the eye is very good at circles and very poor at texture. So the boundary is cut as a true arc and the texture is allowed to run right up to it rather than fading out, which is the opposite of the instinct. A faded edge looks like a printing error; a hard one looks like two materials meeting. The single raised point at the centre is there to give the eye somewhere to arrive, and without it the field reads as noise.

At 47cm it stands on its block rather than lying flat, which makes it a shelf or a desk piece and not a table one. Its broad face needs a plain wall behind it, since the texture is fine and a patterned wall competes with it directly. Light raking from one side is what the field is for: it throws a shadow into every break and the surface reads as depth. Flat light from the front loses almost all of it and leaves a blue circle.

The Field, the Rim, and Delivery

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. The field is cut coarser or finer, the smooth rim is drawn wider, and the blue is lightened or taken toward green. A polished centre inside a frosted rim is offered and reverses the piece, which is worth seeing before it is settled. Other diameters are made to order, and a stone block is offered in place of the clear one. It goes out in one flat case with the disc on edge and the block beneath it, and one person lifts it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A surface rather than an object is indoor sculpture; the flat disc is contemporary sculpture; and the frothy field is resin sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
