Blue Dichroic Faceted Block Acrylic Sculpture - 82cm
Blue Dichroic Faceted Block Acrylic Sculpture - 82cm $3,59300
Description

An acrylic sculpture cut as a broad faceted block standing on a flat foot, wider than it is high and deep enough from front to back to read as a solid rather than a panel. One large face fills most of the front; a long face slopes back from its upper edge to a ridge that falls away to one side, a band of facet runs in beneath it towards the foot, and short facets close each end to a point. The colour is a cyan-blue, deepest towards one end, turning teal with a touch of green across the sloping upper face and paling to aqua along the band below, with a small flash of amber and green at one corner of the foot.

One Broad Face and the Facets Framing It

Everything in the cut is set out from the front face, the largest plane on the piece and the first one anybody meets. The tilted plane above it, the band below and the short facets closing each end are all drawn to frame that single broad plane rather than compete with it. Each face is worked flat and polished to one grade, so that no plane reads duller than its neighbour, and the arrises between them are left crisp. The colour then follows the angle of each plane: blue across the broad face, teal where the upper face tilts back and a pale aqua along the band below.

It is at its best on a long surface with room at both ends, a console, a run of low cabinets or a deep shelf, where people come upon it face on and a little above. A lamp placed to one side lifts the teal of the sloping face against the blue of the front, while a single light straight in front flattens the facets into one colour. A plain wall behind it keeps the edges of the planes sharp, and a dark surface beneath it deepens the blue.

The Span, the Film and Setting It Down

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The span, the depth and the angles of the facets are drawn per commission, so the block can be drawn out along a console or cut squarer to stand alone. Film colours are agreed at order, this cyan-blue, a magenta that turns to gold or an amber, or none at all, leaving the acrylic colourless. It is lifted from beneath, by the foot and the band above it with a hand at each end, and set down on its foot rather than slid into place. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A broad block cut into cyan and teal planes over a flat foot is filed with our geometric sculptures, our acrylic sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
