Blue Cut Faceted Wedge Resin Sculpture, 18cm, with a diagonal sloped face, shown on a plain white background with no base.
Blue Cut Faceted Wedge Resin Sculpture - 18cm $1,41700
Description

A wedge with one long diagonal taken off it, leaving four flat faces and a single sloping one. Blue through the whole solid, deepest where the diagonal face makes the material thickest. No base is supplied. The wedge is cut level beneath and sits directly on the shelf or desk it is given.

A Drawing Made of Thickness

One diagonal cut through a solid is the least drawing a piece can carry, and in a tinted body it is enough because the cut changes how much material every face looks through. There is no line anywhere on this piece that is not a change of thickness. The diagonal reads as dark against pale purely because there is more material behind it, which is the whole of what a tinted solid can do and the whole of what this one attempts. A single diagonal cut through a blue solid means the material's own depth becomes the drawing, and the piece has no line on it that is not a change of thickness. Every face polished flat and every arris left sharp, because the piece is nothing but faces and arrises.

A desk, a windowsill or a shelf of books. It is the size of a paperweight and it behaves like one. Set it where the light comes from behind rather than where the wall is any particular colour. Light through the diagonal is the whole piece; light onto it from the front gives back a blue block and nothing else. It carries no distance whatever and is not meant to: the whole of this one is in the hand.

Another Angle, and One Small Crate

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The angle of the cut can be changed, the blue can be exchanged, and it is made at other sizes. Change the angle and the proportions are redrawn to it, because the cut decides how much material each face is looking through. One small crate, nothing to assemble, and it is lifted straight out. One person. It is heavy for its size and that is the only thing worth knowing about carrying it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue wedge cut once on the diagonal stands in our indoor sculptures; its single cut suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and the solid blue casting joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
