Two interlocking sections stand together as one table: one matt opaque black, the other glossy translucent red, with the joint between them running along a wave rather than a straight line. The outline is a run of soft waves the whole way round, so the pair read as one spreading puddle cut in two.
The two sections are cast separately and their meeting edges are then cut to each other along a wave, which is harder than a straight butt because the line has to hold on a curve in two planes at once. The black is finished matt and left opaque; the red is polished to a gloss and left translucent, so one section absorbs the light and the other passes it. The wave crests are the parts that will take a knock first, so each one is worked back by hand until the outline runs continuously from the black end to the red.
Set it before a sofa or in the gap between two chairs, and let its two sections settle which way round it goes: light from behind or alongside brings the red alive, while the black needs none. On a pale floor the black reads as a shadow and the red as a lamp, which is the effect the piece is built for.
In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Most of it is the wave outline. Three of its features are open. Both colours are open, the wave the joint follows can be moved along the outline, and the black section is offered in gloss instead of matt. Tell us the slab length and the wave depth. Any group ordered in one go is matched on the point where the black meets the red. The wave crests and the interlocking edges must sit clear of the crate on all sides, and each section takes two people to set down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Matt black set against translucent red suits our contemporary and modern sculptures; the black section ties it to our fibreglass sculptures, and the low table itself to our art furniture.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
