A matt black vase that swells from a narrow foot to a full belly and closing to a short collar neck, with two small loop handles set at the shoulders. The surface carries no decoration, no glaze and no variation. It rests on its own cast foot and is delivered without a stand.
A vessel with nothing on it has only its outline, which means every fault in that outline is the whole of what anyone sees. On a decorated piece the eye is given somewhere else to go and a shoulder that swells a little too early passes unnoticed; here it does not. The profile is therefore drawn as one continuous curve from foot to neck with no flat anywhere along it, and the two handles are set exactly at the widest point, because a handle above or below that line makes the belly look wrong rather than making the handle look wrong. The matt surface is part of the same argument: it gives no highlight to distract from the silhouette.
At 45cm it stands on the floor or a low table, and what it wants behind it is a plain wall, since its whole effect is the shape it cuts. A corner, a hearth, the end of a run, beside a chair. It takes light without returning it, so it reads as a solid absence rather than as an object with a surface, and it is easy to place badly: against a dark wall it disappears entirely. Leave the floor about its foot empty.
Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. The neck is drawn longer or the handles left off, the belly is taken fuller, and the black is lightened to a deep grey. A polished version is made and changes the piece entirely, since a gloss surface puts a highlight down the belly and the outline stops being the only thing there. It is also cast at other heights, and a sealed liner is offered where it will hold water. It is sent in one crate seated on its foot with both handles bridged, and two people lift it by the belly. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A plain matt outline belongs with our contemporary and modern sculptures; black resin with no glaze leads to our resin sculptures, and a vase for a hearth or a corner joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
