Black Matt Lugged Resin Jar - 33cm
Black Matt Lugged Resin Jar - 33cm $2,90300
Description

A matt black jar with a soft, even surface, the body swelling from a spreading foot to a shoulder and closing to a broad flared rim. Two small lugs stand out at the shoulders, no bigger than a thumb. The foot is turned out of the body itself and no separate stand is included.

Lugs That Are Not Meant to Be Used

The two lugs will not take a finger and were never meant to. They come from a shape this jar is quoting, where the handles were structural and the vessel was lifted full, and the whole of the reference lives in them. Draw them at a useful size and the piece becomes a functional pot with two handles, which it is not; leave them off and the profile is just a swelling curve with a rim on it and the quotation goes. At a thumb's width they read as a memory of handles rather than as handles, and that is the entire decision. Everything else on the object is a curve with nothing on it.

Matt black takes light and gives none back, so the jar reads as a shape cut out of whatever is behind it. That makes the ground the important choice: against a pale wall the silhouette is the whole effect and the flared rim draws a clean ellipse; against something dark it disappears. At 33cm it wants a low table, a hearth or the turn of a run rather than a high shelf, where the rim closes up and the profile is lost.

The Rim, the Surface, and Delivery

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The lugs are drawn broader or left off, the rim is flared wider or brought upright, and the black is lightened to a deep grey. A polished finish is made and is a different object entirely, since a gloss surface puts a highlight down the belly and the silhouette stops being the only thing there. A sealed liner is offered where it will be planted. It is sent in one box seated on its foot in a cut bed with both lugs clear, and one person lifts it by the body. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A jar with two small lugs belongs with our art furniture; matt black resin with no shine leads to our resin sculptures, and a dark silhouette for a hearth joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
