Black Marbled Windblown Figure Resin Sculpture, 64cm, with black marbling streaking through a clear twisting form on a black marble base, set against a plain light background.
Black Marbled Windblown Figure Resin Sculpture - 64cm $1,95700
Description

A windblown figure in cast resin, drawn as the rest of the family is, with the stone under it and the flare reaching well past the foot. Black marbling is drawn through a colourless body in long streaks that follow the twist of the figure rather than crossing it. A block of black marble is included, and the swept foot covers nearly all of its top.

Marbling That Reads as Drawing

Of the seven colourways this is the only one whose pigment has no depth of its own, which makes it the graphic member of a family otherwise built on tone. Streaks that follow the form and streaks that cut across it are two different objects. These follow it, which means the marbling has to be laid out against the twist of the figure before anything else is decided, and no two castings come out with the streaks in the same places. Black in a clear body is the only colour here that reads as drawing: it has no depth of its own, so every streak looks like a line laid on the surface even though it runs through the mass. Polished to a gloss, which is what makes the black read as ink rather than as shadow.

A console, a hall table or a shelf with a pale wall behind it. White or near white. Black marbling on a dark ground disappears entirely. Strong single-source light is best; diffuse light lets the black and the clear average into grey. The streaks read from across a room because of the contrast, and the form of the figure arrives before them.

Finer Marbling, and Getting It There

Where the piece is standard the build is 3–4 weeks, and where it is bespoke 5–6. The marbling can be run finer or coarser, a second colour can be introduced, and white stone can be supplied instead of black. Run the marbling finer and it stops being drawing and becomes tone, which changes the figure from graphic to soft. One crate, arriving on its block, ready to place. One person, lifting at the block with the figure kept vertical. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Clear resin streaked with black marbling, as here, stands among our indoor sculptures; the long black streaks follow the twist into our contemporary and modern sculptures, and marbled work in other colours is in our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
