A matt black dish, wide and shallow, with a broad flat rim and a grey marbled floor swirling like smoke across it. A solid lug projects at one side and a closed ring handle at the other, so the two ends are not the same. It sits on its own flat underside and is deep enough to be used as well as looked at.
The two handles are deliberately different and the reason is how a dish this size actually gets moved. A closed ring takes a finger and lets one hand swing it, which suits an empty dish and is useless with anything in it. A solid lug takes a whole palm from beneath, which is what you want when it is loaded and level matters. Giving it one of each rather than a matched pair means the dish is picked up correctly for whatever state it is in, and it also settles which way round it sits: a piece with two identical handles has no front, and this one does.
It is a working dish and belongs where it will be reached into: a kitchen island, a dining table, a hall console for keys. At 37cm it needs a clear stretch of table to itself. Matt black takes light without returning any, so it reads as a shape rather than a surface, which is why the marbled floor is the only thing in it that catches the eye. On a pale surface the silhouette is the whole effect and the handles do the work.
Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The marbling is run heavier or left out, the lug is drawn longer, and the ring handle is opened into a hook. A polished finish is offered and is a far busier object, since the matt is what keeps the silhouette clean. It is also cast at other diameters and in a deeper section for use as a bowl. It travels in one box seated in a cut bed with both handles supported, and one person lifts it by the rim rather than by either handle. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A dish with one lug and one ring belongs with our art furniture; matt black resin marbled in grey leads to our resin sculptures, and a catch-all for keys by the door joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
