The Black Glass Top Engine Block Coffee Table is built around a five-cylinder inline engine form: five barrels in a row, a finned rail running above them, a plenum along the top and heavy grey housings closing each end. A smoked black glass panel spans the whole assembly on short posts, so the glass floats a clear gap above the engine and every part of it stays visible from a seat.
The engine is built new rather than salvaged, from metal and 3D-printed parts, with a glass top. Its detail is what carries the piece at close range, the fins, the fastener heads and the ribbing across the plenum, all crisp at a scale that reads as a real machine, and all finished by hand so the surfaces are not left as they came off the machine. The grey and the black are separated deliberately so the barrels stand forward of the housings rather than merging into one mass. The glass is smoked rather than clear, which makes it read as a lid over the engine instead of an absence above it, and the gap under the panel is left open on all four sides.
The top sits at full coffee-table height, sized for a three or four seat arrangement. It is made to be looked into, so it wants a low light nearby and open floor on at least three sides rather than being pushed up to a sofa. The glass is the working surface and takes a glass or a book anywhere across it; the engine below is not a shelf and should be left clear. A dark room suits it, and it holds its own against leather, steel and raw concrete. Indoor use only.
Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. This is very heavy for its footprint and the delivery reflects that: it arrives on a pallet rather than in a crate, with the engine already assembled and the glass panel packed separately and flat. A pallet needs a hard approach and a level threshold, so a ground-floor room with a straight run from the door is the practical case, and stairs are a conversation before the order rather than after it. On site the engine is positioned and levelled first, then the four posts are seated, and the glass goes down last, lifted by two people with suction handles or clean gloved hands at the edges. Nothing is fixed, so the panel can be taken off again to move the piece. Glass is specified smoked, bronze or clear, rectangular or with radiused corners, and the engine is finished in the grey and black as standard, all-black, or bare metal. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
An engine laid under smoked glass makes a five-barrel coffee table for our art furniture, at home with our indoor sculptures, and its machined barrels go with our metal sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
