Black & Clear Waisted Pedestal Resin Side Table - 48cm
Black & Clear Waisted Pedestal Resin Side Table - 48cm $3,44000
Description

A pedestal side table whose top is a flat disc with a rounded rim. The disc and the stem below it are a high gloss black. The stem narrows to a waist at about two thirds height and then swells outward again, and somewhere in that swell the black stops and the material becomes completely clear, so the table stands on a rounded clear foot. The change between the two is a soft diagonal rather than a level line.

Gloss Black Giving Way to Clear at the Foot

The whole piece is one profile turned about its axis: a flat disc, a neck, a waist, then a swelling base with no separate foot at all. What makes it worth looking at is that the colour and the form change at different places. The waist is the narrowest point, but the black continues past it, so the eye reads the waist as a shape and the colour change as a separate event beneath it. Because the boundary runs diagonally rather than horizontally, the table looks different from every side: from one angle the clear foot is a crescent, from another almost a full band. The gloss on the black is properly reflective and picks up the room as a distorted strip all the way round the stem, while the clear base below it stays quiet and shows the floor through itself.

At 48cm it meets the level of a sofa seat rather than the arm, so it belongs beside a low chair or at the foot of a bed, or grouped with something of greater height. The disc is flat, level and generous for the height, and takes a lamp, a glass or a book. It reads best in the open where the whole profile shows and the clear foot can be seen against the floor; pushed into a corner it loses the reason it was made. A pale floor lifts the clear base; a dark one makes it disappear. Indoors only.

Where the Colour Changes, and the Diameter of the Disc

Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. Where the colour changes is the whole design, so begin there: the height of that change on the stem, which is the whole design: low as here leaves a clear foot, mid height leaves a clear waist, and high leaves a black disc on an otherwise clear column. The finish on the black, which can be this high gloss or a matt that removes every reflection and makes the profile read as a silhouette. And the diameter of the disc relative to the base, since a wider top reads as a table and a narrower one as a pedestal for something else. The disc, the waist and the overall height are each specified separately. Crated in one piece on a pallet, with two people needed to lift it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Gloss black flowing into clear down one waisted stem, this pedestal table joins our art furniture, sits well with our indoor sculptures, and shares the pour of our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
