This cast resin side table carries a black disc top above a faceted aubergine base. The base is a closed form cut into eight facets, each tall and tapering towards the top, flat and polished so the faces catch light at different angles. It is cast hollow, with a wall thick enough to carry the colour: a deep aubergine that reads almost black at the corners and lifts to a clear plum across the open middle of each face. Out of the top of it a slim black stem rises and carries a plain round top, also black, so the resin base is the only part of the piece with any colour in it.
The base carries the whole piece visually and it is hollow, which is what makes the colour work. The wall carries a deep aubergine whose tone varies across it: almost black in the corners where two facets meet, clear plum across the middle of each face. A solid form at this size in the same tint would read as a black lump. Eight facets taper towards the top and each one is flat and polished, so their corners stay sharp and the faces return light at eight different angles as you move round it. Above them the stem and the top are metal, black and matte, chosen so that nothing competes with the base.
Standing at seat height, it takes a lamp, a drink or a few books without looking crowded. The base is the piece and it needs light to work: the facets only separate when something is throwing light across them, so a position near a window or beside a lamp is worth more than a corner. The black top and stem keep it usable, since a dark surface hides marks that a clear one would show. Set it on a plain floor. Indoors only.
Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. The faceted base is the slow part. Three things can change. The number of facets can be changed, the tint can be replaced, and the stem and top can be finished in brass or steel instead of black. The top can also be supplied in stone rather than metal if that suits the room better. The top diameter and the overall height are named by you. Several ordered together are worked so that the aubergine depth of the facets agrees. The packing protects the eight facet corners; moving it wants two people. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Eight aubergine facets under a black top place this table with our art furniture; its metal stem relates it to our metal sculptures, and the treatment to our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
